Courtney larrell Lockhart
Auburn, AL police have arrested 23 year old Courtney Larrell Lockhart for the shooting death of Auburn University student, 18-year-old, Lauren Burk.
Burk was found shot on North College Street, a few miles north of campus, on Tuesday. She died later at the hospital. Police immediately formed a 30-man task force made up of local police, U.S. Marshals, and other federal officials.
Police held a 10 a.m. news conference Saturday announcing the arrest of Lockhart during a traffic stop in Phenix City. Phenix City is about 35 miles southeast of Auburn. Courtney Lockhart has been charged with capital murder and three other capital counts — kidnapping, robbery, and attempted rape. Courtney Larrell Lockhart, 23, is from Smiths, Alabama.
Lauren Burk, a freshman from Marietta, GA was shot and killed Tuesday night in Auburn. Later, police found her burned car on campus.
Lauren Burk’s memorial service will be held Monday at 3:00 p.m. on the Samford Lawn at Auburn University.
